"My Story About My Smitty "
I wanted more in my life, so I decided to volunteer at the Cumberland SPCA, and that is where I met my Smitty!!! We had to do an orientation and Smitty was brought out to show us how to harness and collar each animal, so, Michelle asked us “who wanted to walk Smitty”. Of course, I looked at him and said “I will !!!”
I then went home and couldn’t stop thinking how cute, loving and affectionate he was. One week went by and I called Michelle to see how Smitty was doing and if he was still there. They had a lot of dogs come in that day, so I asked if I could foster Smitty so they could have a cage open for another animal. After the week went by, I knew in my Heart that HE WAS FOR ME!!!
He has been with me since and has filled my life with so much Love and Care, and when I look in his eyes I see his Love Back For Me!!!
After a year Smitty was asked to be in our Dog of the year contest and I said sure !!! Well, Smitty, won !!! He brought in for the shelter 2,000.00 in 2009. He was asked to come to the Mayor’s office were he got the title of Top Dog of the City of Vineland and was given a letter of honor that day which got put in the newspaper. I was asked to be on the Mayor’s float that year with Smitty and now we go to schools and nursing homes to let people know he is just a loving dog not a label because he is a pit bull......My life continue’s to be full of love !!! Thank you Smitty for rescuing me.....Love you always and forever Mom....... Arlene A. Baruffi
